Mahekal Beach Resort is a beachfront property of palapa roofed bungalows on the north beach of Playa del Carmen. Bungalow layouts mean the walk from the car to your room is longer than at a tower hotel, so arriving with your own vehicle and your own luggage space is worth something. The 55 km from Cancún International Airport is driven as a private transfer, near enough to 55 minutes on Highway 307, with nobody else in the car. The resort is reached through the north end of town, past Fifth Avenue, on streets that get narrow. A driver who does this daily will not be reading a map at the last turn. Two hours of complimentary waiting at the airport come with every booking.
